The quality of coaching is one of the primary reasons why players either continue to participate in their sport or decide to play something else. The coach has significantly more influence upon players than any other person associated in sport therefore all sports should provide the opportunity to be accredited at an appropriate level. Coaches must be able to communicate effectively with primary and youth aged children or adults depending on their player group, therefore training in coaching and communication techniques are as equally important as the skills, training sessions and game plans. The Australian Academy of Sport has the experience to design and deliver the Coaching Course and Athlete Development Programs both domestically and internationally that will produce professionally trained Coaches to provide services to all abilities, genders, and ages of athletes. Further the Coaching and Athlete Development Programs will provide graduates options to make coaching a career.

The course options are:

Sports Psychology is the study of how psychology influences sports, athletic performance, exercise, and physical activity. This program provides you with the knowledge on how to apply psychological approaches to enhance an athlete’s performance.

As a sports nutritionist, you’ll help elite athletes get the most out of their bodies and performances through food and nutrition. Optimum nutrition can make a vast difference to how your body responds to training, your competition results and the speed of recovery.

Group Fitness Programs are a revolutionary training platform that is changing lives around the globe. The AAS model is built on training enthusiastic students who are truly motivated, customer focused team players who care about the health and well-being of their clients.

The Australian Academy of Sport (AAS) Talent Identification and Development Workshop will assist you to identify and develop potential talent. The workshop aims to support and develop individuals that possess potential medal winning attributes.

Facilities managers are responsible for the management of services and processes that support the core business of an organisation. They ensure that an organisation has the most suitable working environment for its employees and their activities.

This skill set applies to event coordinators who operate independently, and are responsible for making a range of operational decisions. They may work in event management companies, in event venues, or in organisations that organise their own events.

Events are diverse in nature and this unit is relevant to any type of event coordinated in any industry context, including the tourism, hospitality, sport, cultural and community sectors. Sometimes the concept development phase is undertaken in parallel with feasibility analysis or the event bidding process.

Sports management is a broad field, and the knowledge you acquire about both business and sports Students who study sports management go on to pursue careers as agents, managers, publicists, and many other positions in the sports industry this makes for a whole arena of action-packed possibilities.

Physical activity is vital for a child’s development and lays the foundation for a healthy and active life. The Children’s Exercise and Participation workshop promotes the development of good physical activity habits early in life and to encourage families to engage in regular physical activity.

This course provides the knowledge and skills required to use drills, exercises, and activities to instruct strength and conditioning techniques.

This qualification reflects the role of personal trainers who have specialist skills to train individual clients, or groups of clients, on a one-on-one or group basis, to improve health-related components of fitness in relatively low risk situations. This may include training of older clients and children.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply the skills and knowledge to pursue a career as a coach at a high performance level. Likely functions for someone with this qualification include observing elite athletes to determine the level of instruction required, and planning, conducting, and evaluating high performance individualised and team training programs.

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual intending to pursue a career in sport development. Occupational outcomes for this qualification can vary from managing competitions, sports venues and facilities and identifying and developing athletes.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work in the sport and recreation industry in a management or organisational capacity. These individuals have a high degree of autonomy and manage the effective provision of services or programs in locations such as fitness centres, sporting grounds or complexes, leisure and aquatic centres and community recreation centres.

Australian Academy of Sport (AAS) has developed a course that will provide you with the skills and knowledge to undertake a career as a sports trainer at a regional, state or territory level. Likely functions for someone with this qualification include performing pre-and post-event taping as part of providing injury prevention and treatment for athletes.

Delivery Methods

Training for the course will be delivered using one or more of the following methods:

  • Blended options of training delivery
  • All programs, leaning materials and assessments can be translated into the language required

Training methods are selected to best achieve the required elements of competence while considering the learning style of the participants. The provision of training may include a flexible combination of any of the above. Students studying at home have access to training via Skype, email, or phone.
